Islam is Far from being a Monolithic Religion

Let’s talk about ISIS.  What I learned new on the Chris Matthews show this morning was that ISIS is not some band of rag tag peasents, but highly well funded and trained and organized.  In fact ISIS consists of former top military brass of the Saddam Hussein regeime, who were Soviet trained fighters.   So really it’s a myth that “Saddam wasn’t such a bad person” because he was a very brutal man who tortured people.  It does force the question of "Where to bad things go when we stop hearing about them".  Maybe like the lepricons of old they just floated off to some mystic land, and that's why you've never seen a lepricon to this very day.  I've wondered often about all of that oil in the Gulf of Mexico after the BP disaster of 2010.  I mean- - all that "rug cleaner" they put in the water just "pushed the problem under the rug" where the oil could no longer be seen.  They would rather do THAT than actually take the time to get some kind of oil skimmer and methodically skim the water off the surface of the ocean.  That's how we think today.  It's like we no longer show the down side of war.  Those stories get burried, leaving the American people somehow to assume "There are no negative stories of war campaigns nowadays.  Nothing ever goes wrong.  Nothing ever goes "wrong" with Christianity.   I've mentioned that riddle of ancient times after Palestine as we knew it was destroyed by the Romans in 135 AD, whatever happened to all those "Out of work Jewish Priests".  Like the generals of Saddam's army did the Tide come and float them off to some magical place where they would no longer be in a position to hurt anybody- - - or are they Still Around?  (Selah)

The other topic of note though was the whole question of Saudi Arabia’s culpability for the acts of 9 – 11.  People want to dismiss the testimony of the “20th hijacker” who is serving a life term - - Al Zwuhari - - and I hope I got the right name.  Anyhow he isn’t a mad man and he’s not deluded.  He has given factual and intelligent answers to questioning.  Many would question ANYTHING he said saying “Well he’s only trying to cast doubt and “split up the grand coalition” or whatever it’s called.  But before you accept this soothing line of reasoning- - consider the following many facts.  He KNOWS he’s in for life and will NEVER get out, and is in fact lucky to be still alive.  He has nothing therefore to gain by anything he says or omits.  Also his responses have been quite factual and verifiable, and if Zwuhari didn’t know something he plainly stated that.   Now also remember that in fact the Saudis were (and are) a major funder of Al Qaeda.  And President Bush protected “Bandar Bush” as he’s called, Prince Bandar, who was the ambassador- - after 9 – 11 when all flights were shut down- - EXCEPT for secreting the Saudi family out of this country.  Keep in mind that the Saudis are Wah-habbiest - - which is an ultra orthodox (fundamentalist) form of Islam.  And of course fifteen of the nineteen hijackers who did die on 9 – 11 were from Saudi Arabia.  With ALL of these facts being undisputed truths - - how then can you venture to say that “There is not the slightest indicator that the Saudis were behind 9 -11 and anybody who would suggest such a thing has to be a liar”.   For Prince Bandar to say that it’s nonsense to think the Saudis were being 9 – 11 is not good enough for me.  We have to consider it a distinct possibility that the sole reason for Zwuhari to make these statements or “confessions” if you will, is just to cleans his soul before he meets his maker, which might be sooner than he thinks- - because some of these Bushies out there might sneak into his prison cell to silence him after this.

Sean Hannity spoke of Brian Williams not only lying over a dozen year period, but also when he recanted the lie, it was still a lie.  He said he lied “to honor a fellow serviceman”.  Do you know how insulting that sounds.  Now he’s lying about Hurricane Katrina saying he was almost swimming in flood water and must have ingested some because he got dissentary.  But health officials said that dissentary wasn’t a problem.  He also stated that he saw a body floating face down outside his five star hotel window in the French Quarter of New Orleans, the highest ground in the city and one area that didn’t flood.  He’s made such a fool out of himself it makes you wonder if he’s lied about other things.  It's time we clarified what is truly good journalism and what ought to be called out as a bunch of Crap.  Sadly these days, nobody knows the difference, or even cares.  I wanted to remark a little about the fickleness of the blog reading public out there.  My blog numbers peaked early in the week for this present blog, and it’s been like a steady downhill ski slope since then.  It is my belief that a good blog should have a longer shelf life than fresh produce.  As it is- - fresh produce has a LONGER shelf life than people’s attention span on the internet these days, and that’s sad.  People have to tweet about every little thing- - no matter how trial, or even pointless their particular tweet will seem a week or a month later.  There’s no good reason why a good blog article can’t still be good six months or a year, or even several years later, for that matter, if the points are well made.  As it is- - news that’s supposed to be fresh- like fresh baked goods, recycles the same stale story for weeks running it into the ground.  What they call a “breaking story” is usually anything but.  And now they are talking about self censorship of the news reporter himself, and if he doesn’t censor his own story, his editors will surely do it.  There is no integrity in the news profession today.  The idea was raised that perhaps the Brian Williams story can be best explained by acknowledging that the military brass WANTS then to occasionally make up some heroic story like Williams did both with that and Katrina.  It’s expected.  It’s like Jesus commending the corrupt accountant in one of his parables.  He’s “smart”.  He’s feathering his nest for a further rise in the corporate ladder.  This is so sad.  People whore themselves out at the present time thinking some lobbyist or corporate big wig will “take them under their wing” and guarantee big things for them.  We don’t have any of the ethics we had fifty years ago.

In January jobs 257,000 jobs were added last month, if you trust the number.  Unemployment is at 5.7%    What surprised me is that the average wages are $24.75 an hour.  If this is the case then why is ten dollars an hour so unreasonable as a minimum wage?   I’d like to see people offer employment around here for even five dollars an hour.  Remember in Dr Levy’s class I once put that forward as a suggestion and they said “You’re dreaming”.  The idea that I cam make more money than I received in a whole week, just by working one hour- - is something I find completely fantastic.  $24.75 would be two hundred dollars- - per day.  That would make six thousand dollars per month.  If I earned six thousand dollars per month I wouldn’t mind paying eighteen hundred or whatever in rent for a decent apartment.  I speak as someone who "hasn't been out in the real world" for a long time.

Now there was the charge that the sixteenth amendment- the one involving income taxes- - was passed “in the dead of night under a questionable vote”.  I’d like to hear more on that topic- - if you have any more.  At least people who want to specificly get rid of certain amendments or provisions like the Affordable Care act are being honest, and going about it by honest means.  But today politicians don't need to do that.  Even someone who prides himself on being a "straight shooter" like Governor Christie- - ranges all over the political spectrum when he tries to express his oppinions on whether to vaccinate your children.  Without direct orders from FOX broadcasting, a lot of politicians flounder around like dying fish.  It’s rather warm in here now.  Yesterday’s blog posting may be tagged as “rambling” according to some people.  There were a lot of topics I covered, and if I had to break up and segment every single topic into its own paragraph, the thing would not flow as smoothly.  So you can call it “rambling’ in that it makes a lot of points.  This isn’t a college essay.  It’s not an exhaustive topic by topic exposition.  It’s rather just a list of “reminders” to beware of.  If I had any sense at all I would completely reallocate and organize my many blogs by specific topic, so at least if you weer dying to know the latest thing the Druanians were up to you could just word search "Druanians" at the head of a blog and find out everything you needed to know.  I could develop readers and loyal followers for each specific blog category topic.  My search numbers would improved if I'd just reliably spell key names correctly.

Sonny Kiriacus was ambushed and stabbed and now is fighting for his life in University Hospital.  That Paul guy had the same kind of O negative blood and donated.  I think Victor perhaps only now is figuring out that E J Di Mira wasn’t murdered in any drug addicted frenzy but it was an organized hit disguised to make it as though it were done by a drug addict.  Serena continues to act even stranger today and as Eric points out, “Downright out of character”.  Since when would this woman turn down an exciting adventure like a skiing trip at a luxury cabin?   Now they have a “bad haircut” way of punishing wayward children and the barbers are in on it.  It’s got long flyaway hair on the sides and kind of a buzz job on top like Mr. Burnes or something.  There was news yesterday, perhaps for the first time, of what Prince Charles plans to do when he’s King.  He plans to do a lot of environmental stuff.  But he was hushed up by his mother who pointed out that making plans for a job you don’t have yet is somehow - - improper.   But I don’t see how.  It’s not as though Charles hasn’t had time to think about what he’ll do when he’s King.

Many people may wonder, and I have wondered it myself, where there is ANY reason why it's necessary to scientifically quantify things like human will or endurance or why people do the things they do.  In other words "Can't we just have the psychological and socialogical stuff over here as a "liberal art" and leave all the hard, physical science to things that can be quantified in a test tube?  Other than this writer, the ONLY people who show any inclination to do this at all are the church of Scientology.  They would say that those "things that make us do bad stuff" the engrams - - DO in fact have a provable physical existance.  And if these engrams have a physical existence- -then the things they ACT ON and INFLUENCE therefore, logically, also must have some sort of physical existence.  Greeks speak of the psyche- - - and at times St Paul in the Bible speaks of this psyche as evil - - - and some would even say that    It's funny how we reason.  If somehow we have an expensive vase out on our patio and a meteorite comes out of the sky and smashes the thing we call it some flook "act of nature".  And yet if we own a pet chimpansie and he goes brazerk (as chimps are in the habit of doing) and smashes the vase- - - a similar physical act has taken place, only we don't try and "explain" that one.  Obviously the chimp did it.  The Moody Blues have an obscure album track called "Thinking is the best way to travel".   That's going a little far but some would fancy a world where man can "travel" (for real!) just by using his Mind.  What if he could travel in the form of an Avatar, an alternate body whom he was just "renting".   Maybe on a planet they even have "Rent an Avatar" like National of Avis- - where you pay for a couple of day's usage.  We know that (as Rush Limbaugh loves to remind us) that Actions Have Consequences.  So to say that our Human Souls are NOTHING can't be correct because the Acts we produce- - have Consequences that are scientifically mesurable.  You could speak of "Intelligent Design" but "Intelligent" ANYTHING would be worth looking into.  Because there has to - somehow - be a Reality behind all of that (some would say - - "so called") Intelligence.  (Selah)

OK I see I screwed up in an October blog posting from “Cosmic Tides”.   I meant to describe a Lee Atwater statement about how in 1954 we referred to Black people as “Niggers” but by 1968 we couldn’t get away with that and spoke rather of “bussing” and “states rights” and such.  Unfortunately I transposed the numbers.   So when I next refer to 1988 it was more than just two years distant from the previous reference.  By 1988 we had gotten more ethereal and just talked about criminals and the drug problem and immigrants and in general cutting expenses to the poor in general.  This is what Lee Atwater was referring to.   Maybe he’s dead now.  He died around March of 1991 but I find it really, really hard to be sorry that the guy is gone.
