There
is a web site, and I’ll have to rerun the tape to get the web address for you,
called “The ten crimes of Ronald Reagan”.
One was the turning out of tens of thousands of chronically ill mental
patients who are utterly unable to support themselves with a steady job because
they are just too ill. Ronald Reagan did
this first in California. Then in 1980
Jimmy Carter seeing this, got the “Mental Health Act of 1980” passed. The first thing President Reagan did was to
repeal this law, and now the figure for mentally ill people roaming in the
streets is into the hundreds of thousands.
I’d forgotten even though TH mentioned it before, that there was a
secular and possibly Socialist government elected in Afghanistan in 1978 that
gave women rights they’d never had before.
But President Reagan supported the Muhja-hadeem to overthrow this newly
instituted secular Afghan government. At
the time Osama Bin Laden was studying economics or something in Saudi Arabia before
he became a terrorist. And I didn’t know
that the World Court had convicted President Ronald Reagan of war crimes
against the Nicaraguan people because of his support of the Contras and their
murderous ways. Our government was fined
millions and millions of dollars that we never paid to Nicaragua. Now the European Union is getting into the
act by trying to privatize and “monetize” the Water Works in Ireland. Water has always been free in Ireland because
they get so much rain. When I was in
Salt Lake City I was amazed that the drinking fountains in the city were always
running all the time. Anyhow Ireland
even passed a law in 1997 thatr nobody could charge for water. There were no water meters on people’s
homes. But now the EU wants the nation
of Ireland to sell off assets and pay them,
and if they had their way the Greeks would sell them the Parthanon. They say they want to meter the water to pay
for aging pipes in Ireland because the infrastructure is over a hundred years
old. To paraphraise John Lennon though “Keep
Ireland for the Irish not for Brussels or for Rome” (because the head of the EU
is in Brussels) My position is ‘Hands
off Ireland’ because before the E U began messing around with Ireland- - that
nation was not in any economic trouble.
What Ireland is going through over there, Detroit is going through over
here with Governor Snyder. The residents
of Detroit have their own “Water Scandal”.
Water everywhere- but nothing to drink.
And likewise I would say to Governor Snyder- - - “Hands off Detrroit”. There is a new scandal of Ronald Reagan I’d
never heard of before where Ronald Reagan fired a bunch of people in the EPA
and got his own henchmen in there- and they funneled money for the
Environmental Protection Agency into state elections to get his own people
elected there. If you Google The Ten
Crimes of Ronald Reagan (without quotes) you will get the web site. Thom Hartman has a quotation by a Singapore
person “Capitalism works best when it’s forced on the people and unshackled
from the chains of Democracy.”
(Selah) Something to think
about.
The Patriots won the Superbowl over the Seattle Sea Hawks, which is the last thing I expected. The astrological indicators sucked with all signs pointing to danger and also “Don’t say anything - - about a LOT of issues”. Yesterday was supposed to be “the worst” day astrologically – and it wasn’t. Even the computer was working pretty well. I turned on the TV maybe a little after two thirty and the stadium was already full of people. They said the sliding roof is usually kept closed for Cardinals games, but it was open today. It was the latest Superbowl on record, officially getting under way just past three thirty. The half time show didn’t officially start till about twelve after five and lasted the promised thirteen minutes to 5:25. I turned on the light in here during halftime. I suspect that they tape delay the half time show a little- - to make TV scheduling easier. The visual effects were amazing and I am left bewildered as to how they ever got that holographic effects- - or whatever. But as to the music- - that was terrible. It’s hard to think of a worse half time from the standpoint of the music. The score started off seven to seven and looked to be a close game, but then Seattle pulled ahead and at the beginning of the fourth quarter the Patriots were ten points behind, and I didn’t think our side had a prayer at that point. But then the Patriots began scoring and doing what they do best - - and I was typing away with those additional “bits”. After the previous game- - I had developed the idea that Seattle was damn near invincible. But Seattle became a little overconfident in their risk taking. Going for a single play for a touchdown rather than the obvious “safe’ field goal choice seemed really balsy to me- - and is the sort of stuff Seattle has become famous for. But they blew it on the last play when the ball was intercepted by the Patriots on a touchdown pass. From then on it was just getting through the many Seattle “Time outs” and not lose the ball. I watched the trophy presentations and all, and the stadium was still full of people at seven thirty.
Yesterday morning “Breakfast with the Beatles” featured all singles, including all five singles that made their way on to the chart on April 4th 1964. You trivia buffs may or may not know that “There’s a Place” is the flip side of “Twist and Shout”. They opened the show with “My Bonnie”. And they played the wrong version of “Let It Be”. It would take a dedicated neutotic to memorize all of the adlib stuff Paul does at the end of “Hey Jude”. The first three riffs don’t feature anything. And there is also a lull of two more rifts a ways into the song, and then the final moments of the song don’t feature any adlibs except for “A-na-na- - - “ and then the “Nah - - nah” the last second or two of the song. They played some singles by single artists. They played “What is Life” and “Number Nine Dream” and “Helen Wheels” - - the single that was out while Grandma was still alive. They played John Lennon DJ stuff where he worked at a New York station around October 1974. You blog readers will know this was during the period when I was in “The Dead Zone” for just under nine months. I never knew “Any Road Will Take You There” was a single. I was getting a sudden brainstorm idea for a movie, and to have this song as the opening credit song, to show a sense of humor. Actually what happened is that Jim Morrison came to Stu Sutcliffe- - with the idea of making a movie about a movie like “The Player” or something. The idea of having President Obama shot while he was still a youth in college - - was also Morrison’s. “It increases the shock value to have perhaps not the right person being shot” he tells Stu. Stewart consulted with John Lennon - - whose wish was that they could do a movie where he was never shot. Stu said that would be no problem. I did the main draft of that file (added to the “Middle Class’ file rather than here) before the Super Bowl but then remembered all these “bits” I had left out, many of them featuring John Lennon. Un-fortunately the Patriots were really beginning to get their act together at this point and I hated to miss that. The idea about the ten forms of Energy were also done at this time. I had gotten this idea of “counting” the forms of energy and came up with ten- - and figured maybe I had better get that down on paper.
