Fundamentalist Christians don't like reports of near death experiances for the same reasonthey tend to secretly frown on miracles or news that Jesus Christ may actually return this week. If it's real they don't like it and if it points to God rather than themselves, they don't like it. The only things they like to talk abut are dry theology, and the dryer the better, or else allude to some change in circumstance in their own lives that's purely natural but when they interperet it they make themselves the center of their own story as though their own circumstances made them God or something.
Now we'll go on with our near death experiance early this morning.
I came across the radio
in “game mode” and it only gets that way after a power failure or something and
I wasn’t aware of their being any- - certainly not in the past few
minutes. I turned on and it was KFI 640. This guy from South Carolina was talking
about near death experiances and this guy was from an area where everybody is a
fundamentalist and don’t believe in that stuff.
But he was struck by lightning and had a series of experiances after
this involving much of the same imigry you’ve heard about before as far as
being out of the body and the tunnel leading toward the light and all and
talking to a guide. I was more inclined
to take this guy seriously if for no other reason than I am starved for hearing
something new and not the same old clap trap you hear from those preachers all
the time. The book of Revelation just
doesn’t cut it for me these days. It’s
too steeped in theological ritual and there is no way a person could just “have
an experience like that” out of the blue, and so incredibly detailed and has to
be pains takingly deciphered and all.
The caller said he got the feeling that we are connected with everything
else in our world. He seemed definitely changed by the experience. I’d go for an experience like that if it
changed me for the better and not for the weirder. That’s what I’m afraid of. After this I went outside and saw all three
cats around. Tinker looked at me as she
passed and I said “Hi, Kitty” and she walked on. Perhaps I should have continued to listen to
the program.
Since I have so much
coffee already in the jar I did not go to Chris’s room for more coffee to be
charged for. I keep playing this on and
off game with Chris. I need to keep
track of just how much money I owe him.
I went to the med room at five after five. I got cough medicine because I knew they have
it now. I did not use my inhaler. I did get my Ativan. I turned on KNX radio at five thirty. Since I had food around I didn’t go to the candy machine for
anything at ten after six. I had the
radio on still but tidied up the room a bit.
I didn’t know when or even if Augustine would be cleaning the room. We had corn flakes for cereal for
breakfast. This was followed by a single
piece of French toast and butter and syrup.
There were two strips of bacon. There was coffee. It was not quite five after seven when I
entered the dining room. If the official
eating time is seven now, I wish they would come out and say that.
