It would seem that Berock Obama is the first Black man nominated by a major political party for the post of President of the United States. If that happens then June 3rd. 2008 will indeed be a historical date in history. But I'm still not sure. Hillary decided not to end her race last night but instead to "keep her options open". As someone who has been predicted Hillary would get the nomination is far back as late 2005 it doesn't make sense for me now to concede defeat when Hillary herself is making "no decision" at this time. Let's review a few facts. Hillary is way ahead in electoral votes in states she has won. She is also ahead in the popular vote of all the people who have voted. Also if you're being pragmatic, there are are more Hillary people who will absolutely refuse to vote for Obama in the General election than the other way around. Also Hillary has had a rising tide of votes winning the vast majority of the states that have voted since March first, or roughly the past three months. These include states like Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and other states with a lot of electoral votes in November. The fact is that Obama, if this lead holds up, if a man who varitably "backed into" the Presidential nomination, like many sports teams back into play-offs though they lost their last game. Hillary has taken two of the three contests in the past few days. What's key is take a look at South Dekoda. This state is completely surrounded by Obama states on all sides. What this tells me is that Obama's hold on this part of the country is crumbling. People have said "Once people find out what sort of candidate Obama is, he will take off". But the facts are to the contrary. Again, since March first Hillary has been the leading candidate. Not to put too fine of point on it but there is still a lot of racism in this country and when people get inside that polling booth, they may not vote the same way they tell polsters. I just talked to someone yesterday who was an avid Hillary supporter, but now she says she's voting for Mc Cain, and she admitted she just can't face the idea of voting for a Black man. What you are seeing now is Obama holding out the olive branch to Hillary, and Mrs. Clinton taking that branch and grinding it under her feet. I don't know if Hillary is privy to the same astrological calculations I am, but perhaps she's "counting on something happening" or some news story breaking, for instance where national Security comes to the forefront. It would seem I'm wrong about there being some new world conflict this week. I feel a little like Fred Mc Murry in Double Indemnity (even though I haven't killed anybody) I feel as if my feet aren't quite touching the ground and that any moment the rug is going to be yanked out from under me. I'm not alone. There are many, many people who fear some calamatous event will overtake Obama that will in the end prevent him from getting the party's nomination. We'll see.
I am not happy that Proposition 98 failed. Proposition 99, which was a weaker initiative, passed but that only affects single home residents being used by government. Also there are exceptions such as the government may take your property to reduce crime, or any other number of reasons for the "general welfare" and "compelling government interest" and all of that. State after state has been wrestling with eminent domain initiatives since that unfortunate supreme court decision back east, saying that one private person's property can be taken to benefit another private person, or to put it simply, a big fish swallowing a little fish.
. Yesterday at three I turned on Montell and they had a show from late January talking about the Presidential race, when John Edwards was still in the race. You will remember that most of those "Debates" or "Town Halls" they had featured all eight candidates. They had his daughter on. The media was putting so much pressure on Edwards to withdraw from the race even with only a small percentage of the nation’s voters voting. In my oppinion the media did the nation a disservace for wanting to impose its will on choice of President. Some "force" wants to limit our choices using an "either - or" mentality. Edward’s attractive daughter was on the show, talking about the death of her brother, and other political things she’s done. Montell says that “none of the candidates are who they seem”, except perhaps for Edwards, who was good in a debate giving real proposals in debates, as Hillary and Obama bickered. The media, apparently appears to like bickering. They don't want to have an airing of issues, but instead some sort of exhibition wrestling match. Montell promised to have other political shows on, but due to the fact my roommate usually watches "Cops" I don't know if any other such shows were ever aired or not. Montell has the right idea to provide an independant voice out there.
If you're looking for cosmic news let me just say that the good guys don't seem to want to make a fight of it. I was predicting the Red Wings lose that hockey game to the Penguins on Monday night just because the Federation was backing the Red Wings. Of course their space war ships are called "Red Birds" by themselves and their enemies. So any enemy of the Federation was going to back "the other guy". Cosmically as I look out over the landscape and read the tea leaves metaphorically, it doesn't appear to me that "the good guys" have gained any ground, but that "the bad guys" are still in control anytime they want". We have no idea when events will again turn adverse for Obama. You can say it's almost certain that they will.
