The Joys of - "Actually Doing Something About It"

I listen to progressive talk radio.  I hear Randy Rhodes saying “If this snit semite triple murderer had shouted out “Alla Achvar” rather than “Heil Hitler” then FOX news would be right on the case grilling the subject and providing nonstop coverage.  But that’s the state of affairs our nation is now.  We have this Glen Miller guy, with the unfortunate name, who brags about all of the violence against minorities he’s committed in his life.  The trouble is there comes a point where the left can become just another soap opera.  It can become just another way to hold viewers with a sort of circular rut of rehashing over the same old facts.  Not that the facts still aren’t relivant but its what they refer to in EST psychology as the “Reasonableness verses Rightness” trap - - and you live by each horrible new detail, each new anecdotal story.  But in the end after all this ventelation - - nothing is accomplished.  Nobody ends up being pushed or motivated to do anything about it.  It struck me how Death oriented the media has become.  We have Armed Forces day coming up.  Then there is Memorial Day and 9 – 11 day and Veterans day and now added to these are now Boston Marathon anniversary day.  You can layer on top of all of these each new horror story about suffering wounded and maimed veterans and these funerals for police officers.  These events are so rare that when a death actually occurs it’s worse preempting coverage for everything else over.  And then there is Flight 370 in a story that just won’t give up the ghost- - like the winters they’ve had back East.  And then there are the usual crime blotter stories like this South Africa case that’s gone on for months, and they inform us now the judge will take several - - Months - - to render her decision.  We constantly are bombarbarded with stories about identity thieves and the need for home security systems.  Like I say it’s a society where- - it’s a case of perpetual either Death or victimhood.

If you’re curious just what Rush Limbaugh does to attract and hold his audience- - and after you catch his show you’ll be even more mystified.  Today was “Open lines day”.  One caller raved about Rush book on Rush Revere and the Pilgrims, and how this kid’s teacher loved it so much she wanted to know where she could get copies for the whole class.  Rush made reference to “The many lies that are told disparaging American history as a routine thing in our schools now”.   As you might guess he was able to name ONE thing- - ONE fact that the history books get wrong about the so called ‘propiganda to get young skulls full of mush- - to hate America and become brainwashed liberals.   With Rush you don’t need facts- - it’s the seriousness of the charge that counts.  Next there was a Black guy who claimed to be a Christian pastor who lamented how 93% of - - Black Pastors, I believe, voted for Obama.  And he went on to say “Maybe they could be fooled once when they didn’t know what Obama was all about, but how could they be fooled again?”   In other words- - we heard all of the birther roomers and his supposed Islamic connections - - and how the President was incompetent to deal with the pressures of foreign policy with the Arabs.   We heard how inflation was going to go to double or maybe triple digit.  Supposedly given the callers reasoning - - just When was it during Obama’s first term that we actually realized he was a socialist who would raise our taxes to sixty percent or crash the economy - - or somehow use executive orders more than all of his predecessors combined?  According to this Black caller all this must have come true and that’s why he said “- - but I can’t see how now anyone “knowing all this” would still vote for Obama”.   This Black guy went on to claim that he had never heard Rush Limbaugh’s program till the past six months and he was astounded to find out what a nice and reasonable guy Rush was.  Of course Rush said other things on his show like continuing to lament how Steven Cobert could be picked as the new late night host on CBS and how “The media is a slave to the dictates of liberals”.  And then went on to disparage the women’s liberation movement.  We all remember Rush said “The feminist movement was only designed so that unattractive woman could gain access to the mainstream media”.   This statement always seemed off the mark to me- - but now 25 years later it seems downright ludicris and absurd.  Rush went on to talk about how - - “Of course women are biologically different” and tied it in seemingly to “Of Course women aren’t SUPPOSED to have as much confidence as a man”.   It tied all of this in of course to this “giant conspiracy of enforced equality” by the government or whatever.   This is just a sample from today’s show.

In the afternoon after coffee break I dialed up C-Span.  They had a thing on Justice Scelia and from what he said in this vintage interview- - nothing to me sounded all that unreasonable.  Then it was the Mc Cain study group on Putin’s control over Russia.  It was pointed out that if we wanted to – if we had the will to do it- - we could bring Putin to his knees by economically ruining Russia with sanctions- - and stop the petroleum companies such as Exxon and ARC0 from their trade deals with Russia but remind them that first of all their duty is to America and not to some foreign power.  Because someone else on the panel said “I’m wondering whether Americans are willing to make the sacrifice necessary to pull off what they hope to pull off”.  What this guy meant of course was Exxon and other oil companies.  What President is going to stand up to them.  What’s more important?   Serving your country- - or boosting your oil profits as high as possible?  The bottom line is – whatever “line” we are thinking of drawing in the future for Putin not to cross- - he has already crossed it.  Whatever we are thinking of imposing tomorrow should be done right now.  And whatever we are pondering for right now- - is action that should have been taken weeks ago.  We are the ones who is propping Putin up and keeping him in power.  To use a Dr Phil Mc Graw term- - we are the ultimate “Enabelers”.  After this I watched a recent speech before the UN where the Ukrainian rep spoke concerning the recent protests in his country- - and how “rights of the minority” were NOT violated- - but each and every incident was blown out of perportion by Putin.  And said events a foreign country has NO BUSINESS intervening in at all.  Just because Eisenhower and the CIA did it in the fifties does not make it right.  It’s funny how those in favor of taking no action will say things, by way of trying to soothe our fears, “Of course we’re all concerned and we need to have discussions about all of this and we all have the best hopes for Ukraine”.   But it’s just another case of talking and talking a topic to death and never arriving at any conclusion- - let alone any action resolution.

Some people it seems live continually in the Twilight Zone, otherwise known as the Fifth Dimension.  They claim to have a system of physics where one experiment can have “two outcomes at the same time” and- - unless I dreamed it- - experience where an animal was involved in some stunt- - and they scientifically proved that this Animal could be both Alive and Dead at the Same Time!  This is the Fifth Dimension, otherwise known in our lingo as lateral or latitudinal time.  Many Christians “live” in this zone because they constantly talk about things that “Are true in Heaven” and we know they are true because the Bible SAYS they are- - -so it must be so - - and the only problem is that we weak humans lack the “Faith” and will believe our Lying Eyes over what some monk wrote on papyrus nearly two thousand years ago and translated dozens of times since.  How dare we?  As you know I have – Eleven blogs- - and on some TV drams they spoke of “Eleven” as being “The Devil’s number” as in “The Devil is in the details”.   It’s like Sean Hannity questioning that Heaven guy last week.  Sean (as far right as he is) was hoping for just some glimmer of insight- - even the vaguest hint of Reality or something “material” that could be called - - what journalists refer to as Facts.  It’s the old “pinning it down” problem.  Anybody can live continually in the Fifth Dimension.  But even people who live in the Fifth Dimension - - even they have to eventually come down for Air - - sometime.
